Sergio Santiago, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot in the left side of his chest July 2 in the 17100 block of Coolwater Avenue in Palmdale, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Santiago, of Lancaster, was found shot in the street about 11 p.m. July 2, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office. Santiago was taken to the hospital after the shooting and underwent surgery to treat his wound, Winter said.
He was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. on July 3. Winter said authorities believe the shooting may have been gang-related.
