Nery Arias, a 44-year-old Latino, died July 20, 15 days after he was found shot inside his cab at 28th Street and Trinity in Historic South-Central.

LAPD Det. Louie Calzadillas said that Arias was found in the driver’s seat of his taxi with gunshot wounds. Neighbors said people who saw the cab swerving through the intersection late that night initially thought a drunk driver was behind the wheel.

Calzadillas said his investigation is still in the early stages and that he cannot release more information about what happened. He said he did not have a suspect description or motive in the killing.
