Thomas Rodriguez, 18-year-old, a young latino man, was shot outside Alberto’s Mexican restaurant located at 1304 W. Pacific Coast Highway at about 2 a.m. Sunday March 16. Two groups of men were involved in a fight inside the restaurant as it was closing. The fight escalated further into the parking lot, where a Latino man pulled out a gun and fired several shots. Rodriguez was mortally wounded and was transported by ambulance to UCLA Harbor Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:35 a.m.
