Joe Perez, 54, a Latino man, was shot in the head with a shotgun in his living room in the 1400 block of Bromely Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23. Another man inside the house was shot but was not injured, said West Covina Police Lt. Ron Mitchell. Perez was transported by ambulance to L.A. County-USC Medical Center, where he died five days later. His time of death was listed as 9:11 a.m., Jan. 28, according to a coroner's report. It is unclear what the motive for the shooting was, Mitchell said. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune said Perez was single and had no children. He also worked as a handyman and in construction.
