Van Knott Jr., 19

Van Knott Jr., a 19-year-old young black man, was shot multiple times in the chest at 714 E. 97th Street in the Watts area at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. Knott was outside talking with a friend when a gunman in a Dodge Charger pulled up and shot them. Knott was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead. Knott's death is related to an ongoing spasm of Watts gang retaliation shootings described in an earlier post.
