If you remember ‘The Galloping Gourmet,’ you probably recall an exuberant, well-dressed man charging into his TV kitchen to prepare rich food, wine glass in hand. Or, in recent years, perhaps you’ve heard him talk about healthy food, which he began advocating after his wife’s stroke and heart attack in the 1980s.

And he’s written a new book about it, ‘Growing at the Speed of Life.’ The book includes his philosophy on healthful eating, and lots of ideas for beginner gardening. That’s followed by sections on 60 plants -- how to grow them and a few recipes for each.
