It wouldn't be the holidays if you weren't assembling something. How about a room addition?

The Backyard Tipi tent is big enough for two kids at play or one grownup desperate for holiday calm. The tent measures 8 feet, 6 inches in diameter and is made with water-repellent, mildew-resistant and flame-retardant canvas. It  comes with everything you need to set it up in a backyard or living room, including 10-foot break-down poles and the colorful streamers shown above.

Price: $275 at ReForm School, 3902 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, where you can see it on display. The tent weighs 28 pounds and ships for $45. (323) 906-8660.

My colleague David A. Keeps picked the tepee for L.A. at Home's 99 gift ideas for home and garden.
