Saturday: More than 100 Navajo weavings ranging from $100 to $10,000 in value will be available at this silent auction. Saturday: Horticulturist Lili Singer leads a class on the basics of gardening with California flora. The class will cover the value of native plants plus planting techniques, irrigation, pruning, maintenance and places to see and buy the plants. Noon to 3:30 p.m. $35 to $45. Sunday: Gabrieleno-Tongva tribal member Mark F. Acuña will guide visitors through the history and culture of the Tongva people, the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles region at Ranch Santa Ana Botanic Garden’s Tongva Village Site. 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday and June 26. Thursday: The Camellia Lounge opens inside Descanso Gardens’ Japanese Full Moon Tea House, shown above. June 26: Michael Wall will show students how to collect seeds in the garden in “Collecting, Processing, and Storing Native Plant Seed.” Then, working at the seed-storage facility, students will learn how to properly document, clean and prepare the seed for storage. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members, $78; non-members, $94. Butterfly pavilion: A new interactive exhibition that allows visitors to walk among native Southern California butterflies opens at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Aug. 1. L.A. Box Collective: The newly formed L.A. Box Collective, a group of 12 Los Angeles-based professional furniture designers and makers committed to environmentally-conscious design and production, display their their latest works.
