Good, clean fun: Create custom scents at Mindful Nest's Blending Bash on Jan. 24

After writing my story about Mindful Nest several months ago, I decided to try its make-your-own Klean Bath & Body laboratory. I was not disappointed. While co-owner Jennifer Hardaway — bless her — set my kids to work mixing up their own sweet-smelling organic body wash, I concocted a wonderful room diffuser that suits me, a clean, citrusy mix of California grapefruit and pomegranate.

The more grown-up sounding “Blending Bash” on Jan. 24  sounds like even more fun. “It’s a party,” Hardaway says of the monthly event. “A mixer, literally.” At this month's installment, participants will develop a personal custom fragrance at the Klean blending bar at the back of Mindful Nest's shop, while noshing on bruschetta, savory puff pillows, cheesecake lollipops and bubbly beverages.

There are six spots left. Prepare to don an apron, socialize, mix scents and create your own roll-on perfume and lotion. Candles also can be made with a minimum of four participating. (Room diffusers like mine might be an option for a future party, Hardaway says.)

Mindful Nest, 3319 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank. Jan. 24, 5-7 p.m. $35 per person. (Sign up for the Klean Bath & Body newsletter, and get an instant 25% off coupon.) Reservations or information: (818) 840-0123.
