A year ago, David Hay wrote this story for Home detailing how modernist residences by iconic architects like John Lautner and Richard Neutra weren’t fetching the prices they once did.

Some in fact, aren’t selling. Lautner’s 1949 Schaffer Residence in Glendale, shown above, was originally listed at $1,958,000 in the spring of last year. It was then reduced to $1,775,000, then $1,573,000. A year later, the home is still on the market, now listed for $1,495,000. Located at the foot of the Verdugo Mountains, the house features two bedrooms and one and a half baths in 1,698 square feet of living space.

It remains to be seen if ‘A Single Man,’ the debut film from fashion-designer-turned-director Tom Ford, can help spur any interest from buyers. Based on a Christopher Isherwood novel, the film documents a transformative day for George (Colin Firth), a grief-stricken English professor whose longtime lover was killed in a car accident. Critics have remarked on Ford’s polished-to-perfection settings, and the Schaffer house is George’s cool, suburban-chic home. Of course, in the movie, it’s in Santa Monica.
