Sept. 17: Charles F. Weckerle-Thrun will present a program on “The Culture of Paphiopedilum Orchids” at this meeting of the San Gabriel Valley Orchid Hobbyists. Sept. 17: Author Don Sloper will discuss his book “Los Angeles’s Chester Place” at the Los Feliz Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. Chester Place is the oldest gated community in Los Angeles, dedicated in 1899 and now the Doheny campus of Mount St. Mary’s College.
