In a smart twist on traditional tables with inlaid hides, Pfeifer Studio’s contemporary occasional tables, above right, have pebble-grained black leather inset tops and a three-leg wooden base in a tasteful charcoal finish (instead of a tired chocolate brown). Simple enough in appearance to fit a variety of decor schemes, the 14-inch diameter design is available in two heights -- 20-inches, $169, and 22-inches, $195 -- so they can be nested. For more ornate interiors, the Albuquerque-based design studio also offers modern pedestal end tables, above left, with leather-clad tops and bases joined by turned wooden spindles, $339 each.
