The Alhambra Preservation Group will open a selection of early 20th century historic homes in the former Alhambra and Orange Blossom Manor Tracts -- now Alhambra’s northeast neighborhood -- on Sunday, June 28. The residential enclave was home to Sunkist founder Francis Q. Story, as well as renowned desert plein air artist Clyde Forsythe. During the winter of 1930, Norman Rockwell, a friend of Forsythe’s, painted many Saturday Evening Post covers in the well-lighted studio above his garage. In addition to these two historic homes (Forsythe’s home is shown above), the docent-guided tour will showcase examples of English Tudor, Mission Revival, Spanish Colonial and Dutch Colonial Revival-style residences. Sounds like a fun Sunday outing.

Tour: Sunday, June 28; hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets ($15 in advance, $18 on the day of the event) are available by calling (626) 755-3467 or at www.alhambrapreservation.org.
