COMIC-CON 2010: ‘Human Target’ expands its cast of characters

You know a show has become a part of the pop-culture consciousness when someone attends Comic-Con dressed as a character from the series. By that test, Fox’s “Human Target” has officially made it: A woman actually turned up as Jackie Earle Haley’s shady Guerrero, now a fan favorite.
The cast and crowd in attendance at a panel on the series Saturday fully appreciated her effort -- Haley brought the woman on stage to show the whole room what she looked like standing next to him.
The moment was just one of many highlights from the panel, which also introduced two new female characters into the boys club of Haley, Chi McBride and Mark Valley. The trio entertained the audience along with showrunner and ex-“Chuck” exec Matthew Miller.
Miller spoke about the show’s crew getting a new boss, a female billionaire to be played by Indira Varma, and a new member, who has yet to be cast. That member, though, has a past as shady as Chance’s (Valley) and Guerrero’s and she will be “a despicable thief,” according to Miller.
“You know guys love having women tell them what to do,” McBride quipped.
Each of the actors seemed genuinely to love the show and eagerly recounted why -- with McBride talking up the opportunity of acting in a new genre, Haley excited about the prospects of delving into characters a lot more deeply than in film, and Valley loving the show’s growth, calling it a “living, breathing organism” that’s “constantly developing.”
Valley got a couple of the crowd’s best questions/comments, including someone telling him that he would have been perfect as Captain America and another fan asking if he’d invite his former “Boston Legal” colleagues to come on the show.
“Well, sure,” Valley said, “but I couldn’t pay them.”
“We could invite Shatner and pay him in sandwiches!” McBride interjected, before launching into his best William Shatner impersonation. “What! You. Call. This. A sandwich!”
