South Pasadena to host green-living expo and car show
South Pasadena will host a combination car show and green-living expo this Sunday, featuring exhibits of energy-saving car models alongside seminars about composting and other environmentally friendly topics.
Attendees can imagine themselves rocketing toward a greener future in style behind the wheel of an electric Mini Cooper or a Tesla Roadster, an electric sports car with a $101,500 plus price tag.
Or, those seeking solace from the sun can watch free screenings of "Wall-E" and the documentary "Too Hot Not to Handle" inside South Pasadena's Rialto Theatre.
"This is a great venue to introduce innovative, green technologies and other eco-friendly options to the public," said Michael Cacciotti, a South Pasadena city councilmember and board member of South Coast Air Quality Management District, in a written statement. "Every exhibitor has a product that can help us become better stewards of the environment."
A raffle will also be held, with prizes to include an electric lawnmower, gas fireplace set, high-efficiency washer and regular-efficiency laptop computer.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, at 1414 Mission St. in South Pasadena.
