Angelenos: Learn about climate-change policy, asthma and renewable energy from Los Angeles’ Department of Water & Power chief David Nahai and other experts at the opening of 2009’s ‘Green Salon’ series Wednesday, Feb. 18. The salon is sponsored by the nonprofit Breathe LA. It is free and open to the public.

Feb. 18 -- Environmental experts speak about the Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32) and the Global Warming & Asthma Report, followed by a question-and-answer session at the California Endowment (1000 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles) - 9 a.m to 10:30 a.m.
Panel of experts: Carolyn Casavan, Valley Industry Commerce Assn. Environment and Energy Committee co-chair and the CEO of West Coast Environmental & Engineering; Anita Mangels, project director for Woodward & McDowell and a member of the AB 32 Implementation Group; and David Nahai, CEO and general manager of L.A. DWP.

Later sessions will be held on energy reform, greening the ports, so-called ‘clean coal’ and on how to green your lifestyle with the help of Ed Begley Jr.

Sept. 16 -- ‘Going Green: A Look at Jobs, Infrastructure, Economy’
at California Endowment (1000 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles) -- 8 a.m.

Nov. 19 -- ‘The ‘Dark Green’ Movement: Conversation with actor-activist Ed Begley Jr. and wife Rachelle, stars of hit HGTV series, ‘Living with Ed’ ’ at Los Angeles Valley College (5800 Fulton Ave., Valley Glen) -- 9 a.m
