Reese Witherspoon pregnant, may be too sensible to name baby Tiger

Reese Witherspoon reportedly is pregnant, which means a brand-new opportunity for a wild celebrity new-baby name.

Witherspoon may disappoint us on that front, though. Her 12-year-old daughter is Ava. Then there’s Deacon, her 8-year-old son. Perhaps her second husband, Jim Toth, father of the bouncing-baby-to-be, will have an unsettling influence. (Inspired by Alicia Silverstone’s son, Bear, we propose Tiger. Tiger Toth. Think about it, Reese.)

Witherspoon, however, gives every indication of being a thoughtful, introspective individual, especially where it concerns her children. Earlier this month, she spoke in Washington at the World Conference of Women’s Shelters on the issue of domestic violence.

This is no dumb blond.

Witherspoon married Toth, 41, a year ago in a ceremony at her Ojai ranch. She began dating the CAA agent shortly after her split with Jake Gyllenhaal. Ava and Deacon are from her first, seven-year, marriage to Ryan Phillippe.

In the video above, the actress -- honorary chairman of the Avon Foundation for Women -- talks about how she has spoken with her children about the problem of domestic violence. Impressive.

More impressive -- to moms, anyway -- was that she didn’t appear queasy or pale in her Washington appearance. In its new-baby announcement, Us Weekly, citing ‘multiple sources,’ said Witherspoon was about 12 weeks along but planned no official announcement.

Here’s hoping she feels like eating cake. Thursday is her 36th birthday and her family has something special to celebrate. Happy birthday and congratulations to Witherspoon and her family.
