Zsa Zsa Gabor turned 95 on Monday, and her husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, made sure to throw her a party.

It was a party Gabor didn’t exactly attend: She remained in bed behind closed doors and was presented a chocolate cake by her husband, who paraded it for the guests and said it was a gift from chef Wolfgang Puck.

‘Larry King talked to her,’ Von Anhalt told ABC News. “He touched her hand, and she looked at him and was happy and smiled. Larry King was singing happy birthday — it doesn’t get better than that. Larry King singing happy birthday!’

Von Anhalt told ABC that about 130 people attended the party, while the Associated Press reported ‘a few dozen guests’ sipping champagne and mingling quietly, surrounded by pictures of Zsa Zsa from her glamour-girl days. On one table was a framed letter that read, ‘The Consulate General of Hungary in Los Angeles sincerely congratulates Zsa Zsa Gabor on the occasion of her 95th birthday. We wish you many more years!’

A pianist and singer were on hand, along with German-themed food and a towering white cake for guests topped with strawberries and decorated with hearts and the letters ‘ZZ’ on each tier.

‘She’s hanging in, she’s enjoying the flowers and the presents,’ Von Anhalt told ABC. ‘She’s smiling, she doesn’t talk very much, but she knows what’s going on.’

Gabor has struggled with worsening health problems since a July 2010 fall from bed led to a hip replacement; she later had part of her right leg amputated to prevent the spread of gangrene, and has been rushed to the hospital frequently to deal with complications related to her feeding tube.
