Shortly before Christopher Plummer’s name was read as this year’s winner for supporting actor in a film, he and his wife, Elaine Taylor, were sitting at their Golden Globe Awards table waiting for others to join, and hoping that the servers would take away the lowly salad plate sitting next to them.

Already busy on the circuit, Plummer is having a good time with all the recognition he’s received from ‘Beginners.’

‘Once you convince yourself that you’re not pushing yourself on others, it’s a great time,’ he said.

He said people had come up to him to talk about the film, from director Michael Mills. ‘It’s unsentimental. Honest and human. I don’t generally get a script like that.’

Plummer, who spends his winter months in Florida, will be in Los Angeles for the Screen Actors Guild Awards in two weeks, and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, which, he noted, ‘is nicely honoring me.’
