Katie Couric’s much-discussed relationship with Brooks Perlin, an entrepreneur 17 years her junior, has come to an end.

Couric, who is 54, had been dating Perlin, 37, since the two met at a cancer research fundraising event in 2006.

Couric stepped down from the ‘CBS Evening News’ anchor desk in May and will start her new syndicated daytime talk show, ‘Katie,’ in September. Perlin is the chief financial officer at Eco Supply Center, an environmentally friendly building-supplies distributor.

According the New York Post, the couple had been having trouble for months, with Couric even hinting at her relationship problems in an interview with People in May. She told the magazine, ‘I am in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he. I am really happy in my personal life ... but it is complicated.’

Couric even laughed off the idea of what people were saying about the relationship. ‘I’ve been called all kinds of things. I’ve been ‘cougared,’ which was just obnoxious. But it’s good enough for Demi, right?’

Well, not quite. Demi Moore split from her much younger husband, Ashton Kutcher, last month.

But we shouldn’t worry about Couric shuffling around her Manhattan home eating ice cream from tubs. She’s keeping busy with her talk show and ‘The Year With Katie Couric’ special, airing Thursday night on ABC. She’ll be recapping the newsiest stories of the last year. Wonder if she’ll include Ashton and Demi?
