Kim Kardashian left her trouble with Kris Humphries at home when she stepped out for a good cause Wednesday. The reality star took time out of her busy schedule to give back to the community by serving food at the Los Angeles Mission Thanksgiving Dinner.

And she wasn’t the only star spreading good cheer; Jennifer Love Hewitt, Zoe Saldana and Kirk Douglas also helped out at the annual event.

Volunteering around the holidays is nothing new to Kim. She told Showbiz 411, “My parents used to take us here when we were little and different places across L.A. to give back, so I’m kind of following the tradition.”

So what does Thanksgiving really mean to Kim during this difficult time?

‘I think the holidays are just about winding down and spending time with your family,’ she explained to People magazine. ‘That’s what it’s going to be about this year for me.’

After serving gravy over mashed potatoes, Kim was off to prep for her own Thanksgiving dinner with family.

‘We’re each cooking a dish, bringing it over and just hanging out,’ she said to the mag. ‘I’m going to make the sweet potato soufflé,’ she shares. ‘It’s really good!’
