David Arquette may have given daughter Coco the best gift for her recent birthday -- leading by example.

Arquette showed up Friday at Lowe’s Burbank for Habitat for Humanity’s Build-A-Thon, an eight-day project to build eight homes with the assistance of the Hollywood community.

Arquette turned up on the dot at 8 a.m., an onlooker tells us, donned a hard hat and got to work amid the drizzly Southern California weather.

Though Coco, Arquette’s daughter with Courteney Cox, had turned 7 on Monday, Arquette put down his power drill early to celebrate Friday. He apologized for leaving, but we’re told no one faulted him for heading out to spend time with his little one.
