It’s official -- Prince William and the former Kate Middleton are headed in the direction of Hollywood!

The newlywed duke and duchess of Cambridge are confirmed to make a stop in sunny California on the heels of an official visit to Canada.

The date is set for July 8-10, a lovely little weekend visit where we can only pray David and Victoria Beckham will take them to Geoffrey’s in Malibu, then a stroll around the Getty Museum grounds.

St. James’ Palace is insistent that this getaway is not Kate and William’s formal honeymoon but rather a quick trip following their Canadian jaunt, where they’ll visit the country’s Northwest Territories.

It will be Kate’s first visit in the United States.

[For the Record, 2:15 p.m. May 6: This post originally did not make clear that Prince William’s wife is no longer known by her maiden name, Kate Middleton.]
