Donald Trump will not run for president of the United States, he announced Monday, only a day after 13-year-old ‘Friday’ phenom Rebecca Black announced that she was not pregnant.

We’ll pause now for a moment of silence so we can all read that previous paragraph again, shake our heads and wonder how the world is currently still spinning on its axis.

‘I will not be running for president as much as I’d like to,’ Trump said Monday in a written statement, after teasing for months about whether he’d submit his résumé to the American people for consideration as chief exec of the free world.

The teasing by the host of ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ included traveling to early-primary state New Hampshire and loudly and successfully pressuring President Obama to release his long-form birth certificate.

‘I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election,’ Trump said. ‘I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.’

Speaking of birth certificates, we won’t be expecting a new one courtesy of Rebecca Black any time soon. The YouTube phenom is not pregnant, despite CNN’s iReport website falling for a doctored picture of the 13-year-old ‘Friday’ singer announcing that she was with child.

‘I thought it was May 15th ... not April Fools Day,’ the teen wrote on her @MsRebeccaBlack account on Twitter. ‘I’m absolutely NOT pregnant.’

And here we thought the full moon wasn’t due until Tuesday. Go figure.
