Charlie Sheen has started a charity that will, for its first fundraiser, link his love of major league baseball to his show Saturday night in San Francisco.

Bryan Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who remains in a coma following a brutal beating outside Dodger Stadium on opening day, will be the first beneficiary of the Sheen’s Korner charity. All merchandise proceeds from the show at Nob Hill Masonic Center will go to the Bryan Stow Fund, Sheen’s rep told the Hollywood Reporter.

Stow, a 42-year-old Santa Clara paramedic, is a Santa Cruz resident and father of two. He was assaulted March 31 in the Dodger Stadium parking lot after the L.A. and San Francisco teams met for opening day. On Tuesday, doctors again began attempts to ease him out of his medically induced coma, the Mercury News reported. That process could take up to five days, Stow’s cousin told the paper; a previous attempt did not succeed. As of Wednesday there had been no seizures, the family said on its website.

A $150,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the assailants. The Dodgers organization has been among those raising money for Stow’s care.

Sheen set up the charity to ‘benefit those in need,’ his rep told THR. Before his second show in Toronto, the former ‘Two and a Half Men’ held an impromptu walk to benefit a Canadian bipolar disorders support organization.

Sheen’s ‘Violent Torpedo of Truth / Defeat Is Not an Option’ tour, which had a rocky start April 25 in Detroit, heads to Vancouver after San Francisco, then wraps up Tuesday in Everett, Wash.

If the ‘Sheen’s Korner’ moniker sounds a bit familiar, well, you might have already seen something like that on the Internet.

[For the record, 6:39 p.m. April 28: This post originally said Bryan Stow is from Santa Clarita. He is a paramedic in Santa Clara and hails from Santa Cruz. Thanks to commenter @Denise for flagging the gaffe.]
