Lady Gaga‘s meat dress has topped Time magazine’s 2010 list of the Top 10 fashion statements, which seems only fair after the getup served as a main course at MTV’s Video Music Awards in September and then went on to feed an entire nation gossip leftovers for days afterward.

Some of the runners-up are also hard to forget. Think Prince wearing Prince at the BET Awards, Venus Williams’ lingerie-like French Open attire, Rihanna in a catsuit inspired by Gumby, and Rita Wilson wearing a white dress and shoes dripping with chunky Lucite crystals -- with a crystal-free strip up the back to allow for more comfortable Emmy Awards seating.

Other fashion statements on Time’s radar: M.I.A. in a psychedelic burqa, Britney Spears in a see-through ‘dress’ over a leotard that screamed ‘foundation garment,’ Taylor Momsen in dog collar with ‘slave’ hanging from a chain, Charo at the Latin Grammys and ‘Project Runway’ host Heidi Klum wearing a finalist’s love-it-or-hate-it dress on a real red carpet.

But wait -- no mention on Time’s list of ‘Hung’ star Thomas Jane’s footwear choices? Never mind. See more pictures of the meat dress, including the meat purse and the meat backside, here.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerman was named the mag’s 2010 person of the year.
