'Megamind' premiere: Justin Bieber is Will Ferrell's minion (in really big glasses) [Updated]

October 31, 2010 |  9:05 pm

Will Ferrell and Justin Bieber at the Megamind premiere in Hollywood It might have been Will Ferrell's day, but it was Justin Bieber's weekend in Los Angeles — the "SNL" alum and the pop star made waves on the red carpet at the "Megamind" premiere Saturday at Hollywood & Highland, then the Biebs and his goofy-big glasses kept it going Sunday at the Grove as he promoted his new book.

Also in a "Megamind" mood Saturday: Jane Lynch of "Glee," who might've been pleased to see Ferrell in a Sue Sylvester-style track suit (albeit in USC colors), with wife Lara Embry; Mary Lynn Rajskub of "24" with husband Matthew Rolph and son Valentine, all three in costume; "Scrubs" actor Donald Faison; DreamWorks chief exec Jeffrey Katzenberg; and Amber Tamblyn of "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" franchise. Click the picture of Megamind and comic David Cross, the voice of Minion, to launch a gallery of pictures from the premiere.

Megamind-gallery Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez of "Modern Family," Kathryn Newton of "Gary Unmarried," Zendaya Coleman and Bella Thorne of the upcoming "Shake It Up!," Stephen Lunsford of "Private Practice" and Erin Sanders of "Big Time Rush " all showed the Halloween spirit, attending the premiere in costume.

(Cast member Tina Fey had turned out in her Roxanne Ritchi costume in New York on Friday, Ferrell at her side as Megamind, for the "Today" show's annual Halloween broadcast.)

After signing autographs and stopping for snapshots Saturday in Hollywood, the Biebs — who isn't in the movie but has just released "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever" — posed for pictures with more L.A. fans Sunday in honor of the book at the Barnes & Noble in the Grove. See a shot of that scene below.

"Megamind," which also features the voices of Brad Pitt as Metro Man and Jonah Hill as Tighten, opens Friday in U.S. theaters.

[For the record, Nov. 2: In an earlier version of this post, the character Tighten was incorrectly called Titan, and Donald Faison's first name was given incorrectly as Daniel. MOG clearly needs new minions.]

For Will Ferrell, picking 'Megamind' was a no-brainer
