Lady Gaga video asks fans to lobby Senate for repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’

Lady Gaga wants people to make some phone calls — specifically, calls to request that senators next week vote to repeal ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’

The pop diva took to YouTube on Friday with a seven-minute clip on the controversial U.S. military policy, naming Senate leaders and calling to action her legion of Little Monsters.

Praising the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and its investigations into military discharges over sexual orientation, Gaga says the group’s work ‘proves that these soldiers are being searched, superiors are going through their e-mails and private belongings, calling family members and operating based on assumptions. Ultimately the law is being enforced using gay profiling.’

The Lady has been an active voice on the issue for months, even arriving at last Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards with four former members of the military.
