Ah, modesty -- as important to award shows as red carpets and designer gowns. ‘Modern Family’ star Ty Burrell, who is nominated for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy, had plenty of it Friday night.

Attending the Emmy’s Performer Nominee Reception at the Pacific Design Center, Burrell got to rub elbows with the likes of Glenn Close, Seth Green, Bryan Cranston and Julia Ormond at the Grey Goose-sponsored fete.

Burrell predicts he won’t snatch the trophy on Sunday, but that it’ll stay in the ‘Family’ with a win for his costar Eric Stonestreet.

‘I don’t win, I don’t win anything,’ Burrell insisted. ‘I think Eric is going to win. Just pray our show wins.’

Burrell certainly hasn’t played a losing game in the past year, with the sitcom’s success and his upcoming film ‘Butter,’ which he stars in opposite Jennifer Garner and Hugh Jackman. Burrell and his wife also adopted their first child this year.

‘I only wish my success came later in life,’ he joked. ‘In my 60s instead of my 40s.’
