Will Mel Gibson face charges in connection with allegations by ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva that he hit her while she held their child? That’s up to prosecutors to decide, now that L.A. County Sheriff’s Department investigators have turned over their findings in the case, L.A. Now reports.

The handoff, which happened Wednesday afternoon, didn’t include results of the Sheriff’s Department’s investigation into extortion allegations made by Team Gibson against Team Grigorieva -- seems that’s not wrapped up yet, with TMZ reporting that deputies will again interview the actor. The extortion investigation reportedly has turned up e-mails and text messages that go to the heart of that issue.
