As we recently told you, Tori Spelling’s husband Dean McDermott suffered a nasty dirt bike accident that left him with a punctured lung. We caught up with the reality dad Thursday, where he said he’s recovering slowly -- not that kids know the difference. ‘They’ve been jumping on me. Liam kicked me in the side where I have stitches,’ McDermott said of his pint-sized, er, Florence Nightingales.

‘But, you know, they’re kids.’

No one knows this more than Spelling, who made her man swear off the dangerous biking hobby for his family’s sake. But is he complying?

‘I am reeling it in. I promised her that I wouldn’t dirt bike or race, but I will continue to pleasure ride. This Saturday I’m the grand marshall for the Ride for Autism,’ he said.

McDermott rolled through a Teen Choice Awards gift lounge hosted by TJ Maxx and Save the Children, for some quality time with son Jack (from a previous marriage).

The actor also praised the equality time California got on Wednesday, when Prop. 8 was deemed unconstitutional by a federal judge.

McDermott and Spelling’s reality show ‘Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood’ features regular characters ‘The Guncles,’ same-sex couple Bill Horn and Scout Masterson, who just adopted their first baby, Simone.

‘[Tori] and I were thrilled. You know, love knows no bounds. And hopefully we show that’ on ‘Tori and Dean,’ McDermott said.
