There was a lot of happy talk outside the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown Wednesday night when crowds gathered for the opening night of the touring production of “South Pacific” caught sight of “Glee” star Matthew Morrison on the Music Center plaza.

Just a year before he took on Glee Club duties at William McKinley High School in the hit Fox show, Morrison sang his way into the hearts of Broadway audiences as love-struck Lt. Joseph Cable in the Tony Award-winning revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

Also spotted at the opening: “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier, “Dexter’s” Michael C. Hall, Jane Kaczmarek and cast members from the 1958 film Mitzi Gaynor (Nellie), John Kerr (Lt. Cable) and France Nuyen (Liat).
