First Oprah, now Tyra.

The model has announced on her website that ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ will be coming to an end after five years, likening the choice to leave TV when her syndicated show is going strong to her decision to leave modeling several years ago at the top of her game.

She’ll stay as host of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ but says she intends to move forward via Tyra.com into what she called the ‘DIGITAL EXPLOSION.’ Her talk show will end in 2010. Said Tyra:

‘I’m so excited and I wish I could tell you about ALL of the new stuff, but there are people here with me now telling me to stop typing and keep my lips shut about our new projects! So, I will ...’

Tyra gave props to mentor Oprah Winfrey in her statement too, thanking Winfrey for giving her a first shot in daytime TV. Winfrey has announced her own long-running daytime show would come to an end in 2011.

Tyra’s name had come up in some ‘Who’ll replace Oprah’ discussions, but she wasn’t a clear-cut favorite. And Ellen DeGeneres, although a good fit, seems to have her plate full.

Snoop Dogg has said he’s interested, incidentally -- but after seeing her chat on late-night shows, we’d actually love to see Gabourey Sidibe get a shot.
