Former ABC marketing chief Mike Benson has landed at Time Warner Inc. as chief creative officer of the media giant’s Global Media Group, which is its in-house advertising agency.

In this role, Benson will work with advertisers to develop marketing campaigns across various Time Warner platforms including its cable networks TNT, TBS and CNN as well as its Time Inc. magazine unit, publisher of Time, Sports Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly. Benson will also be involved in the production of advertising campaigns as well.

A top executive at ABC for almost a dozen years, Benson left the network last year soon after Paul Lee came on to replace Steve McPherson as head of the network’s prime-time programming.

Benson will replace Mark D’Arcy who left Time Warner for Facebook earlier this year.

Global Media Group Senior Vice President Kristen O’Hara was promoted to chief marketing officer.

For the Record: An earlier version of this post incorrectly said O’Hara reported to Benson. Both she and Benson report to Time Warner Executive Vice President Gary Ginsberg.
