Bud Selig turns 80 on July 30, 2014. And what will he be doing that day?

He’ll be the commissioner of baseball, as he has been since 1992. Major league owners are expected to award Selig a contract extension at this week’s meeting, according to a person briefed on the plan but not authorized to discuss it.

ESPN first reported the pending contract extension.

Selig had said he would retire in December, when his current contract expires, but virtually no one in baseball believed him, and owners never formed a committee to search for a successor. Selig even said his wife did not believe he intended to retire.
