Dodgers bankruptcy: Two season ticket holders to join creditors' committee

October 24, 2011 |  4:40 pm

DodgerslogoThe fans who buy Dodgers tickets will get a say in the team's bankruptcy proceedings, according to an agreement filed Monday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The United States Trustee has agreed to appoint two season-ticket holders to the official creditors' committee, according to the filing. In return, the group of season-ticket holders seeking official court recognition has withdrawn its motion.

"This allows the season-ticket holders to have a voice in the case immediately," said Robbin Itkin, the attorney representing them.

Itkin said the trustee would choose which ticket holders would join the committee.

In July, the trustee appointed five parties -- including the Major League Baseball Players Assn. and representatives of the Bryan Stow family -- to the committee charged with representing the interests of all the unsecured creditors. Stow is the San Francisco Giants fan who was severely injured in an attack in the Dodger Stadium parking lot on opening day.

The trustee later denied the ticket holders standing in the case, so the group of ticket holders last month petitioned the court for status as an official committee. The Dodgers and the creditors' committee opposed the motion.

A hearing on the issue had been set for Tuesday.
