Hiroki Kuroda underwent an MRI exam on his ailing neck Thursday but is still planning to make his scheduled start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday.

Kuroda said he was told his neck problems aren’t as severe as they were two years ago, when they forced him to miss the opening round of the postseason.

‘I want to pitch,’ Kuroda said.
