Joe Torre named Vicente Padilla to start on opening day for the Dodgers this season, a surprise to many who expected it to be Chad Billingsley or Clayton Kershaw.

Of course, some would also say that being named the opening-day starter is overrated, because the rotation soon becomes jumbled anyway because of injuries and rain outs.
