SILVER OAK ANYONE? Most commercial wine tastings revolve around new releases that wineries or retailers are trying to push. If you want to taste the good stuff, you usually have to join a private group -- preferably one that includes plenty of generous, big-cellared folks. The folks at the Redd Collection in Culver City are an alternative. They’re generous and big-cellared, for a price -- and not an outrageous one considering the quality of what they’re pouring. For example, this weekend, they’re hosting a tasting of the iconic Napa Valley cab from Silver Oak -- five vintages (‘90, ‘91, ‘92, ‘94, ‘96) straight from the winery for $50. Scheduled for July: Great Napa cabs from the 1970s. If you don’t have generous friends, at least you can rent them.
