It’s hard to imagine that after he has spent the last decade in the public eye, there could be anything left to say about Thomas Keller, the much-ballyhooed chef-owner of the French Laundry and Per Se.

But on KCET television Wednesday night Michael Okwu delivers what has to be one of the best, most in-depth portraits of Keller yet as part of a special edition of the station’s ‘SoCal Connected’ series. For anyone with any curiosity about the chef or his restaurants this is a must-see.

In the half-hour documentary, Okwu not only takes you behind the scenes at the French Laundry (the show ends with a Flip-cam record of his lunch there), he also elicits some really revealing comments from Keller that help you understand just what makes this great chef tick.

And now for the necessary disclaimer: Keller is one of the Times’ Master Class columnists and I’m interviewed for the program. Still, you’ve got to see this.
