This week’s Culinary SOS comes from Phyllis Ruderman in Manhattan Beach. She writes:

Old Venice in Manhattan Beach makes excellent Greek and Italian food, but its lemon chicken, from the Greek side of the menu, is especially wonderful. I can still taste the delicious sauce. Any chance of getting the recipe? I’d love to make it for my foreign dinner group.

Testing the recipe, we loved the simplicity of the method. Before roasting, oil and water are drizzled over the chicken and potatoes, helping to keep everything tender as it roasts. The liquids slowly pick up the wonderful flavors of lemon, oregano and roast chicken in the oven, making for a nice ‘sauce’ lightly drizzled over each serving.
