Consider this your warning: You have until 11 p.m. Sunday night to submit your best burger recipe to the L.A. Times’ first-ever Battle of the Burgers.

Don’t just sit there. Get cooking!

Here’s how it works: Go to our Facebook page and submit your hamburger recipe, along with a short essay on what makes this the baddest burger of all. A photograph will probably help -- you know how voters like pretty things.

Voting will begin Monday. (Don’t hesitate to get friends, relatives, co-workers and your mailman to stuff the ballot box.) Voting ends June 13. We’ll take the top vote-getters and try them out in the Test Kitchen.

The best burger bosses will get an invite to the Test Kitchen to have their picture taken with their little pride-and-joys, and we’ll run it with the recipes in the Food section June 30, the Thursday before the Fourth of July.

This gorgeous burger, above, was submitted by Carl Samrock of Encino. Here’s how he sells his Carl’s (not Jr.) Burger:

Deliciously juicy and flavorful. Wife is a very tough critic and thinks my burgers are better than any in a restaurant.

His burger starts with 30 ounces of chuck, and involves chili sauce and horseradish. But you’ll have to check back Monday to get the full recipe, and to vote for Carl.
