--El Pollo Loco is celebrating its 30th anniversary with coupons for all: Through the month of September, you can go to www.elpolloloco.com and download daily coupons. National Chicken Day falls on Sept. 15, and on that day only you can use a coupon for a free mini-meal: A leg or thigh, warm tortillas and fresh salsa.

--Do we really need a poll for this? Over at YumSugar, they’re gauging interest in whether you like your chocolate salty or just plain sweet. Of course the answer is salty! But I won’t tell you how to vote.

--Over at Salon, guest chef Cathy Elton writes about being heartbroken after learning that heart problems meant she could no longer eat saturated and trans fats. ‘I thought I would never make or eat pie again (and believe me, I cried myself to sleep over that one).’ But you can’t keep a good baker down. She offers up a recipe for ‘heart healthy apple raspberry pie,’ which has zero saturated fat.
