Ubuntu, the highly praised vegetarian restaurant in Napa (where former New York Times critic Frank Bruni has ‘blissed out’), is out a chef, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Sources tell the Inside Scoop ... that chef Jeremy Fox and most of the staff came to the agonizing decision to leave Ubuntu, Napa’s acclaimed vegetarian restaurant.... Apparently, pastry chef Deanie Fox left last month. It’s unclear what has prompted the exodus. Fox has been lauded by The Chronicle, the New York Times and others for his innovative and sophisticated approach to vegetarian cooking.

Fox declined comment, and when asked about Fox’s employment status, owner Sandy Lawrence told the Chronicle, ‘You’d have to ask him.’ A call to Lawrence at the restaurant was not immediately returned.
