From Berea College Crafts in Kentucky comes this cake tester. I love the idea of hanging one within easy reach of the oven. The idea is to pull off a straw and use it to check whether your cake is done. Just like using a toothpick, but more poetic. It’s $14, available on Berea College Crafts’ website; click under the category ‘broomcraft’ for more brooms, including their best seller, Shaker Braid, a standard broom hand-rolled and braided in natural straw, $35.
