Coffee and gelato: Studio City’s Gelato Bar announces that it has ‘re-branded’ itself: Now it’s Gelato Bar and Espresso Caffe. And they are now serving coffees from Sonoma County-based roaster Ecco Caffe, pulling shots of espresso from their Synesso Cyncra espresso machine. Also, drip coffees are being ground and manually brewed by the cup. There are still 24 daily flavors of gelato and sorbetto. More (vegan) ice cream ... : Eric Lechasseur and his wife, Sanae Suzuki, have opened Seed restaurant in Venice. They’ve dubbed it a vegan bistro and are serving organic curry bowls, panini and Asian salads, along with a tempeh-based selection and whole-grain burgers. Lechasseur was the opening chef of M Cafe de Chaya, and he and Suzuki have written macrobiotic cookbooks.
