David Haskell sold his WeHo wine bar, Bin 8945, early last year with the hopes of opening a bigger restaurant in a different location. The restaurant-going public has since been waiting. ‘The economy has made me delay over and over my plans to re-open,’ Haskell says. He recently left Jeffrey Best (Firefly, Habana, Mesa) as his director of operations and now is general manager at STK, the steakhouse on La Cienega. Haskell says he’s still looking for the right opportunity to open his own place again. ‘Ultimately, my goal would be to do a 20-seat, really fun wine bar, with housemade charcuterie, great cheeses, a much more relaxed atmosphere, where I can run it myself with one or two other people. Something that’s just fun and cool and leave it at that.’
