If you’ve been paying attention to the L.A. food and dining blog Eater L.A., you may have noticed that this week editor Lesley Balla put up far fewer posts than usual. Rumors about the fate of Eater circled among the ranks of food writers and bloggers, and today it has been confirmed (by Balla herself) that she is stepping aside as the blog’s editor. In her goodbye post she says that Ben Leventhal from Eater headquarters will be taking her place. Balla recently told a member of our staff that she has something good in the pipeline, but was very tight-lipped about what it was. She also intimates as much in her final post, but doesn’t give up any information there either.

I think I speak for many food bloggers and foodies when I say that Balla will be missed. She was tireless when it came to tracking restaurant openings and closings, chef changes and menu shifts. And she paid close attention to every dining option in the city, from taco trucks to juice bars to ritzy high-end fare. She kept us bloggers on our toes; we had to be quick and alert to beat her to a post. We wish her luck with the still-secret thing that she is doing (and urge her to give us the exclusive scoop when she decides to reveal it).
