Broadway observes 9/11 anniversary with outdoor performance (video)

The Broadway community came out in full force Friday afternoon in New York to observe the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Performers from the musicals ‘The Book of Mormon,’ ‘Sister Act,’ ‘Billy Elliot,’ ‘Mamma Mia!’ and more gathered in Times Square to sing the ode to the city, ‘New York, New York,’ by John Kander and Fred Ebb.

You can watch the outdoor performance in the video clip above. Ten years ago, just a few weeks after the terrorist attacks, Broadway gathered in the same place to perform the same song as part of a commercial promoting ‘I Love New York.’ You can see the 2001 commercial in the video below.
