First, there was the ‘Star Wars’ concert tour. Now another popular movie trilogy will be making the symphonic rounds at a stadium venue near you. ‘The Lord of the Rings in Concert: The Fellowship of the Ring’ will come to Southern California on Oct. 15 for one performance only at the Honda Center in Anaheim, as part of a West Coast tour.

The Lord of the Rings in Concert: The Fellowship of the Ring’ will feature the projection of the entire Peter Jackson movie, with the soundtrack portion performed live. Conductor Ludwig Wicki will lead the Munich Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Chorale and Phoenix Boys Choir. There will be one intermission during the screening.

In addition to playing in Anaheim, the tour will travel to Glendale, Ariz. (Oct. 12), San Diego (Oct. 13), Las Vegas (Oct. 14), Portland, Ore. (Oct. 18), Seattle (Oct. 19), Fresno (Oct. 21), Oakland (Oct. 22) and Sacramento (Oct. 23).

The score for ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy was written by Oscar-winner Howard Shore. Organizers said that the other two installments of the film trilogy -- ‘The Two Towers’ and ‘The Return of the King’ -- will receive similar symphonic-tour treatment in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

A spokesman said the tour is being produced in agreement with Warner Bros., the parent company of the trilogy’s U.S. distributor, New Line Cinema, which no longer exists. The tour, created by Shore, is produced by CAMI Music, with Alex Rabens as the producer.

‘The Lord of the Rings in Concert: The Fellowship of the Ring’ was performed at Radio City Music Hall in 2009. A critic for the New York Times noted that the use of subtitles was necessary since the live music sometimes overpowered the dialogue.
